Different Seals Used In Steel Strapping
Strapping is the method of using straps to attach items together or to securely bind objects into place. It is used to prevent objects from falling, disintegrating and swaying side to side. It is commonly used in packaging industries and transportation businesses. Strapping is also used in holding signage, banners, and billboards, which are commonly found in the streets.
Stainless steel straps are one of the most common strapping tools available in the market. They are widely known for their durability and resistance to rust. They are built to stay for a longer period even when exposed to rain, extreme heat, and other weather elements. These characteristics make stainless steel straps ideal for several industry uses, especially transportation of heavy cargo materials.
However, steel straps also use strapping seals to close off the ends of metal bands and straps, providing a more secured support. There are several kinds of strap seals offered in the market. They come in different designs, depending on their application to ensure that the necessary characteristics of each type are met.
There are six standard types of steel strapping seals: snap-on, thread-on, open-flange, push type, nestack, and microgrip, with snap-on, thread-on, push-on, and magazine seals are the most popular choices for steel banding seals.
Snap-on seal is used in overlapping strap ends during or after tensioning. It eliminates pre-threading and speeds the strapping process. The most popular steel strapping seal, snap-on is mostly used in different strapping purposes. On the other hand, thread-on seal is used in overlapping strap ends before tensioning. It is commonly used on bales, bundles, and larger strapping sizes. Push-on steel banding seals are used for steel straps with a dedicated tensioning tool. They must be threaded before tensioning. Push-on seals can take stronger tension and endure higher stress through their overlapping flanges. While magazine seal is stacked together to allow loading partial stacks into magazines. This type is popularly used in combination strapping tools and power strapping machines.
Depending on the strapping application, these different steel strapping seals answer your strapping needs. However, since there are a lot of strapping materials, make sure that you go for something that is durable, just like stainless steel wing seals or any banding seal made of steel.
